Ready for Any Challenge!

How lovely is my client Karla in her high-waisted Army pants! These army pants have a striking bit of femininity with a high waist and back exposed zipper.  The pants also balloon at the bottom with a self-tie and can be worn for almost any occasion.. She accessorized with a cute crop top, peek-a-boo toe ankle boots and some simple jewelry!

She looks amazing do you agree?

Chanel Coat Inspiration

When I saw this Chanel Coat in the online fashion show I knew I had to have it or I knew I had to make one like it. I was more than sure the cost of this coat would be about $4,200 whew too rich for me.. However, when the collection was released, I couldn’t wait until I found out the REAL Price :-O

Umm yeah that will never happen unless I hit the $455 Million Dollar lottery currently going on! Heck that price can purchase the Bernina 560 I need, two student machines and fabric for my ready-to-wear.. anyway I digress.. here is my actual creation from this inspiration..

This is a beautiful 100% Wool Tweed from Mood Fabrics I purchased mine at the store in New York but there is a similar one Here.  I used Burda pattern 7020 with the following modifications:
Added 2″ to sleeve and added a fringed self fabric band
Added a waist casing for the leather belt
I obtained the leather belt (which is simply a leather tie by the yard) from ToHo Shoji Trimmings in New York along with the Swarovski Balls on the end of the leather tie.
I loved making this coat! My client was so amazed when she saw it and want to purchase it from me..lol

Chic Jumpsuit for a Chic Girl!

How lovely is my client who requested a custom jumpsuit in less than a week.  The great thing about creating this for her is she was open to creative design, she was willing to come to as many fittings as required and she was very easy to create and sew for! She knew exactly want she wanted and it came out lovely!
This is an all over scattered sequin stretch fabric jumpsuit with jogging pant style bottom and plunging neckline.  The self-made belt cinched at the waist although it was originally a tie and it has long sleeves with a princess shoulder seam! People fell in love with her and the design and I am happy she choose me to create it for her!

Photo Shoot Sneak Peek!

Well my photo shoot finally took place yesterday and at first I wasn’t nervous.. ah it will be a cinch.. I have done some modeling before .. But  I was a lot younger then! We shot about 5 outfits and it took about 4 hours.. I never knew it would take so long and standing in heels in and out of changes was a bit grueling.. Now I know why they are top models.. then you must totally listen to your photographer and tune out outside interference was not easy.. You have to stand straight, shoulders back, head up hair perfect lipstick on smile big pose no leg more leg soft hand.. dern whew thats a lot.. But I had fun and I would do it again.. I felt so special for the day!
This is photo is a sneak peek of one of the photographers that snapped me with my own FujiPix S4400 humm came out pretty dern good!
This dress is a Vogue pattern with shirring on the side, the fabric came from Mood Fabrics (one that was not on my list) but I saw it and had to have it. I originally planned to create a top but I think the dress came out much nicer! The whole shoot is coming with shoes and all but I just couldn’t wait to share this!

Fancy Ramen Noodles

It is rare to find packages of ingredients that are created for one or just “recipe” size.. So you find alternate ways of using packages or ingredients like “soy beans” for multiple recipes.
This dish is Fancy Ramen Noodles
1/4 cup of Lump Crab Meat
1/4 cup of Jumbo Shrimp
1/4 head of cup up broccoli
1/4 cup of soy beans
1/4 of a red pepper
Few slices of Sweet Onion chopped
1 Scallion
1/2 package of cooked Fancy Ramen Noodles (These packages already have all the of spices included with the Ramen Noodles)
First cook the noodles until done.  Add olive oil to a wok (if you have one) and saute the broccoli, pepper, onions, scallion, and soy beans.  Once they are tender add the spices and the shrimp saute until the shrimp are done which is not very long.  Add the Ramen Noodles saute those until the color is uniform then add the lump crab meat.
You can add and omit veggies and seafood as you like.  This is and can be a low calorie dish.

Creating Quick Side Dishes for One

One of the most difficult things is creating quick dishes for just one person.. Generally, your one servings come from left over ingredients from other dishes.  Here I decided to have a broiled crab cake for lunch and I wanted some healthy to go along with my crab cake.  I had a head of broccoli and some bean sprouts from my chicken and broccoli meal the previous day.. so why not broccoli and bean sprouts!
I cut half of the broccoli cut it into pieces minus the stems. I blanched it a bit in the microwave for about one minute and added a handful or bean sprouts.
For the seasons I included: one garlic clove, a few dashes of soy sauce, some pepper, and some sesame seeds.  Added it to the pan with a bit of olive oil and sauteed until tender!
Delicious and you don’t have to worry about throwing away unused veggies when they can be re-purposed!
Let me know what your think 🙂
